Application

Fumed Silica (SiO₂) has been used as a precursor to synthesize: Chlorosilanes via silanization, which are used to prepare silica/polydimethylsiloxane membranes to study permeation performance. Silicon carbide (SiC) nanoparticles by sol-gel method. Calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) by treating with CaO and water via hydrothermal reaction. Si/PtO₂ catalyst for the selective conversion of cinnamaldehyde to cinnamic acid by aerobic oxidation.It can be also used in the preparation of: Silica sulfuric acid catalyst used in the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones via one-pot three-component Biginelli reaction. HClO₄-SiO₂ heterogeneous catalyst used in the synthesis of tetrasubstituted imidazoles.
