General description
Set1A is a histone methyltransferase (HMT) that is part of the SET1 HMT complex. This protein specifically methylates lysine 4 of histone H3 if the adjacent lysine at position 9 is also unmethylated. Studies demonstrate that Set1A and Set1B localize to largely non-overlapping regions of the chromosome. This suggests Set1A and Set1B bind to unique sets of target genes and that each protien makes non-redundant contributions to the epigenetic control of chromatin structure and gene expression.
Immunogen
GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to human Set1A.
Physical form
Rabbit polyclonal serum containing 0.05% sodium azide.
Unpurified
Quality
Evaluated by Western Blot in PC3 cell lysate.
Western Blot Analysis: 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected Set1A on 10 µg of PC3 cell lysate.
Storage and Stability
Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
